Bio

Tony Kinslow is a transformative higher education and healthcare human resources executive. He is a highly sought-after human resources strategist and is often asked to serve as a speaker or panelist. His colleagues and peers selected him to serve on their governing board for the Association of American Universities (AAU) - HR Institute. Now known as the American Research Universities HR Institute, it is composed of 64 top academic research universities in North America.

 

Tony has also excelled as an international human resources leader while working for the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi. Later he headed up human resources for the Clinic’s international programs and expatriates across several different countries in Asia, South America, and Europe.

Tony has been a value adder throughout his career, first as a military officer serving on active duty, then as a reservist and in human resources. He uses innovative approaches to improve talent acquisition, learning and development, retirement plans, leave and disability management, workforce planning, and succession, as well as engagement, all with a tangible positive impact on the organization. Tony also understands how to integrate various aspects of the human resources function into the local community to enhance reputational value. Tony has led HR organizations to awards in Employee Assisted Housing, Diversity, Supplier Diversity, and Engagement, as well as best workplace recognition.

Tony believes in contributing to the community in which he lives and works. As a result, he has served on several volunteer community boards and committees, including Action For a Better Community, Urban League, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Board, and others. And he has served nationally on TIAA Advisory Board and the American Research University HR Institute Board.

Tony has also served as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion leader with three major institutions. His leadership has led to improvements in community reputation for hiring, vendor and supplier access, veteran participation, and pride in the workplace.

Currently, Tony serves as Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Georgetown University. He is responsible for directing the University’s overall strategic and operational human resources functions and will provide direction and leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of human resource programs and services in furtherance of the University’s mission. He also oversees talent acquisition and development, employee relations, policy, classification, compensation, benefits, and payroll, and manages Hoya Kids and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. He is excited about serving the HR mission and ministry at Georgetown University.

He joined Georgetown from the University of Rochester, where he served as Associate Vice President/Chief Human Resources Officer since 2015. Prior to working in Rochester, he spent several years in HR leadership roles within the healthcare industry, first as Vice President & CHRO at the Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri, as CHRO of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi and then as Executive Director of Global Human Resources for the Cleveland Clinic. Tony has also served in HR leadership at Case Western Reserve University, Caltech, and Vanderbilt.

He attended the US Air Force Academy and received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from California State University through an Academy/ROTC joint commissioning program. While at the Academy, Tony lettered in football under Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells. Tony earned an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California. He also holds a JD from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Tony is honorably retired from the United States Air Force Reserve, where he served for 23 years, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel.

In his spare time, he enjoys family, friends, walking, cycling, live music, movies and sports.
